DBE Services is at the forefront of the push to decarbonise church schools by 2030.
On this page you will find everything you need to know about decarbonisation and how to begin your journey to net zero.
Using this knowledge we are helping to spearhead and coordinate the Church of England Education Office’s programme to decarbonise across the country, using the DBE Services Decarbonisation Diamond.
We believe all schools can engage with this agenda through the A to G of Net Zero Carbon.
In working in partnership all schools can do something about their attitude, behaviour and culture.
In terms of Decarbonisation, most schools can then do something about their Energy Efficiency and Energy Generation.
Some schools can do something to improve their building Fabric through insulation or air-tightness.
A relative small amount of schools can currently replace their Gas or Oil heating System with a heat pump solution.
DBE Services has partnered with three Energy Consultancies through a framework agreement to produce high quality and bespoke Heat Decarbonisation Plans for schools. Each plan is around 50 pages long and provides all the technical information and costing required to bid for government funding to decarbonise schools. We have successfully secured over £7M of PSDS funding using these plans. A sample plan can be found here.
On average a Heat Decarbonisation Plan for a primary school is £2,000 plus VAT as part of a project including at least 35 schools. We have a schedule for High Schools ranging from around £3,000 to £5,500 plus VAT depending on the site and the complexity of the Plan.
